The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene offers postmortem genetic testing, a whole exome sequencing assay analyzed against genes associated with sudden death. Testing is requested after a negative autopsy and discussion with next of kin, and DNA banking of the residual sample is included at no additional cost. The service is free to decedents aged 45 or younger who resided in Wisconsin with a negative autopsy.
